Nigerian Tribunal for Competition and Consumer Protection ordered Meta Platforms Inc. and WhatsApp LLC to pay a 220 million administrative penalty for data breaches and discriminatory practices. The companies must also pay 35000 to the FCCPC for investigation costs. The tribunal upheld FCCPC’s authority and ruled that Meta and WhatsApp must comply with data protection laws and submit a working policy on data protection. Additionally, EU antitrust regulators fined Apple and Meta for market monopoly allegations.
